Some of these things such as payment method can be adjusted if you live locally.

STEP 1: REFERENCE

Before I agree to take on your commission we need to agree on a reference photo. Having the perfect picture of your pet to work off of is key to having the beautiful finished work you're expecting. The clearer and more crisp your photo is the better your art will turn out, it is especially important in scratchbord work. If you can see the individual hairs and whiskers in the image that is best.

Please read through this site, it gives tips on how to take art worthy pictures of your beloved cat, dog, or horse. https://www.pet-portraitartist.com/pet-portraits-from-photographs.htm

If the picture you want to use has been taken by someone other then yourself, such as a professional photographer, I will need written consent to use the picture as a reference in my artwork.

STEP 2: PAYMENT

Once we have agreed on a reference photo and I have accepted your commission, you will need to pay a 35% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. This covers the cost of materials in case for some reason you are unable to pay the final amount. Payments are done through PayPal. You will also need to sign a Terms and conditions contract.

STEP 3: SKETCH

After you have paid the deposit of 35%, I will then do a sketch of your work, if you are unhappy with how something looks this is the point in the work where you can ask for changes or make suggestion. After the sketch has been approved by you, there are no more changes allowed. You should trust me as the artist to make your animal as close to the reference as possible.

STEP 4: THE FINAL STEPS

Your art will take about 4-6 weeks for scratchbord and 6-8 for pastel once started. Allow more time for complex backgrounds and large works. Updates will be posted on my social media sites for you to look at and an image of the final work will be sent to you. Once the artwork has been completely paid for it will be shipped to you.
